Profile

Dr. Mohammad Haris Shamsi is a Senior Research Fellow at University College London (UCL). His research focuses on building energy modelling, data-driven simulation, and urban-scale decarbonisation, with a particular emphasis on developing scalable tools to support the UK's Net Zero agenda. He holds a PhD in Mechanical Engineering from University College Dublin (2021), an ERASMUS Joint Master's degree in Energy Technology from Uppsala University and Instituto Superior Tecnico (2016), and a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from Aligarh Muslim University (2014). He has significantly contributed to designing the architecture of the UK National Buildings Database (NBD), a national-scale digital infrastructure integrating over 20 datasets to support evidence-based heat decarbonisation policy.. Within the CORE-SPACES Horizon Europe project, he contributes both to project management and to research on local federated digital twins spanning energy, mobility, and buildings domains. Prior to joining UCL, he worked at VITO in Belgium, leading delivery across simultaneous Horizon Europe projects focused on Positive Energy Districts and building renovation strategies.
