His research focuses on modelling and simulation of transportation systems, including conventional and emerging transportation systems, demand modelling, and machine learning in transportation. He holds a PhD from Technical University of Munich, an MSc degree in Transportation Infrastructure and Logistics from Delft University of Technology, and an engineering diploma from Aristotle University of Thessaloniki.

Manos has authored more than 50 scientific publications in peer-reviewed journals, conferences, and books on above research topics and has co-edited a book on demand for emerging mobility services. He has more than 1300 citation and an h-index of 14 (Google Scholar).

Manos has been the PI of two research project (GBSTRESSFREE and RELM) and has also worked in numerous European projects including the HARMONY project (H2020, 7.7 million euros) the MOMENTUM project (H2020, 2.9 million euros), NOESIS project (H2020, 1.1 million euros),and national projects in transport modelling and machine learning. He has been involved in various consulting projects for the decarbonisation of the NHS, the development of a mobility credits scheme, the establishment of strategic and operational transport models, estimation of behavioural models as well as the investigation of impacts of new mobility services.

Manos is serving as an Associate editor for the IET-ITS journal, as Topic Editor for the “Energies” journal and as a Guest Editor for the IEEE Open Journal of ITS and the European Journal of Transport and Infrastructure Research. He is also a frequent reviewer of most highly esteemed transport-related scientific journals including Transportation Research Part A-D, Transport Policy, Transport Geography, Travel Behaviour and Society, Energies, IEEE Intelligent Transport Systems Transactions, Scientometrics.
