Decarbonising NHS
UCL researchers supported the development of analysis and recommendations for the decarbonisation of NHS travel and transport, helping translate the NHS net-zero ambition into practical actions for local trusts and the wider health system.
The work recognised that transport-related emissions extend beyond NHS-owned fleets to staff commuting and patient and visitor travel, and therefore require a combination of technological, behavioural and operational interventions. The resulting roadmap organised action around three priorities: electrification, behavioural change towards sustainable mobility, and more efficient travel and transport.
